Most women aged 21-29 should undergo Pap smears every 3 years. Women 30-65 can extend to every 5 years with HPV co-testing, or every 3 years with pap smear alone (without HPV test). Women aged 65 and older with consistently normal results may discontinue screening, based on their health history and risk factors. These are general guidelines; your specific screening schedule depends on your medical history, prior results, and risk factors. We'll discuss the appropriate schedule for you.
Most women should begin annual mammograms at age 40, though those with a family history may start earlier. We provide clinical breast exams and coordinate mammogram referrals.
Women 65 and older should have bone density screening. Women under 65 with risk factors (early menopause, family history, long-term steroid use, smoking, low body weight, or certain medical conditions) should also be screened. Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak and brittle, increasing fracture risk. Early detection allows treatment to strengthen bones and prevent fractures. We'll assess your risk factors and recommend appropriate screening timing.
Yes, we provide comprehensive management of menopause. Treatment options include hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness, non-hormonal medications for women who can't take HRT, vaginal estrogen for localized symptoms, and lifestyle modifications for symptom management. We'll discuss the benefits and risks of different treatments and create a personalized plan addressing your specific symptoms and health history.
